About Hopscotch Day Nursery
We are an independent family run nursery, which was established in 1997,and are now registered for a total of 69 children. Tracey and Alan took over the nursery in December 2007 and are committed to high standards, thriving for improvement at all times. We look after the children in three large rooms and two large outside areas.
Room one
The Cheeky Monkies room, in here we can take up to a total of sixteen children, generally aged between 3 months and 2 years. The child to adult ratio is one to three. Each child will have a key person or best friend, this member of staff will carry out most of the observations and planning for your child. They will form a close relationship and will know when your child is tired, hungry, coming down with something or just needs a cuddle. This room has it's own changing facility and kitchen. When your child is ready they will gradually and sensitively move up to the next room.
Room Two
The Tennie Tigers generally for 2-3 year olds again this is a large area split into two play areas, a hard floor for messy play and carpeted area. This room has its own nappy and toilet areas and cloakroom. The ratio in this room is one adult to four children. This is a wonderful age for the children, finding out about themselves and their world around them. It is so exciting, so much to do and explore! The children are all at different stages and we accommodate all their individual needs. Some may be growing out of their daytime sleeps, totally nappy trained or not showing any interest at all, some may need lots of encouragement with eating whereas others may have it off to a tea. Every child is individual and we try to make them feel special for that.
Room three
Most of the children in this room are aged three and four years old. However before and after school we can have children aged up to ten, and then take them to the local schools. The ratios in this room are one adult to eight children. We can take a total of twenty-nine children over the whole area. Each child will have a key person or best friend, this member of staff will carry out most of the observations and planning for your child. This room is set up to help the children be as individual and independent as possible. It is a large room sectioned off into two areas, they have their own bathroom, access to filtered water and an opportunity to choose activities and make decisions for themselves. We are registered for the free government funding which many families take advantage of in this room.
